Orlando Pirates midfielder Musa Nyatama has advocated for teammate Thembinkosi Lorch to walk away with the double at the PSL awards this season.

With just two matches remaining in the campaign, the discussion around stand-out individuals in line for recognition is already underway.

Several names have been mentioned already, with Lorch having led from the front for log leaders Orlando Pirates and Themba Zwane also amongst the favourites from defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, while Mwape Musonda’s 15-goal haul for Black Leopards has also been special.

Upon lifting the Coach of the Month award alongside Lorch, who was the Player of the Month, in February, Pitso Mosimane also credited the contribution of the 25-year-old winger.

However, Nyatama believes no one has matched up to Lorch, who has accounted for 11 of The Buccaneers’ 39 goals this season with six goals and five assists to his name.

“I feel like Thembinkosi Lorch has done well for himself and the team as well, he’s been great,” said Nyatama.

“I don’t see any other player winning [Player of the Season] other than him, because he’s been scoring goals for us and assisting.

“He’s also been getting man of the match awards consistently, so I think he really deserves to win both the Footballer and Player’s Player of the Season awards.”
