Kekana reflects on the memories he made in football

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Hlompho Kekana is happy to be amongst the nominations for the big individual awards this season but is aiming to repeat his performances in the next campaign.

The Masandawana skipper is in line to win the PSL Footballer of the Year, alongside team-mate Themba Zwane and Orlando Pirates forward Thembinkosi Lorch. The 33-year-old Kekana is also nominated for the Absa Premiership players’ player and midfielder of the season awards.

Kekana has been a model of consistency for Downs this season as he only missed one game as they won the PSL and also made it to the semifinals of the Caf Champions League.

The veteran player has been nominated for the Football of the Season award on three previous occasions but never won but he is happy that he could pick up his sixth league medal of his career.

“I’m happy with the fact that I have been nominated again and I feel I should be even happier because I managed to win my sixth league title and it was the ninth for the club, so we should very proud for the work that we have been doing,” Said Kekana

“Personally I feel I should be happy with the memories I have created in football because they are beautiful when I look back at them. With the awards, I’m happy because this is the fifth time, so this is special for me. I want to do it again next season. I’m creating history,” Added Kekana
