Land Party’s Loyiso Nkohla dodges the boot and resigns

Land Party’s Loyiso Nkohla submits his formal letter of resignation as Premier candidate prior to him receiving the boot from the party. And the party happily accepts his resignation.

The party’s spokesperson, Mandy Owens, says Nkohla tendered his resignation on Thursday following a number of allegations that were made against him this weekend.

Nkohla resigned to allegations of sexual harrassment, threats of violence and defamation of character.

In a press statement, the organisation issued that Nkohla’s allegations were on the agenda. And that his existence with the organisation would be determined by the vote that would take place.

“Tabled on our agenda for the Land Party Central Committee this weekend was a discussion around numerous allegations against Nkohla and a vote was going to be taken to remove him from the organisation,” said the party in the statement.

Owens speaks on behalf of the party: “We are hugely relieved the party is going through a cleansing process and we are getting rid of people who are in the party for self-promotion. So for us it is a victory. We move forward to grow the party with people who are truly in it for the right reasons and that is to serve the people in our communities”.

In addition to the statement, the party affirmed they “will not allow populists and power-mongers to use poor people for their own selfish agendas”. That they hope this is the end of Nkohla’s political career as he looks out to progress his personal agenda and the progress of the people the organisation serves.
