“I pressed the buzzer when I arrived but no one responded so I went to sit on a bench overlooking the beach.”

Mcinjana said that her interview with the hotel was at 10:45, but she arrived at around 09:00 that’s when she buzzed at the gate but no one because she was early, that’s when she started taking selfies at about 09:20 when the officer approached her asking what she was doing there.

“Her tone was aggressive. I explained to her that I was there for an interview but was early. She didn’t believe me and said there are no interviews on a Sunday.

“She grabbed my bag and started searching it, throwing my things on the ground. My CV, a few of my toiletries and my house keys were in the bag,” said Mcinjana.

23-year-old started taking a video which clearly backs up her allegations, a “Sergeant Smith” and “Constable Prince” searching her bag.

She said that Smith took her house keys which had a gate remote. Mcinjana says that she heard her saying in Afrikaans, “I found what I needed to.”

The 23-year-old said that the officer accused her of being a robber who was sitting there to rob cars, “She said I used the remote to rob people’s cars. I tried to explain that the remote wasn’t even working but I was using it as a key holder.”

The officer radioed in another police van, she took Mcinjana’s phone and arrested her.

“I tried to show the police officer the e-mail that shows I was there for an interview but she didn’t listen to me. She just put me in a holding cell,” said Mcinjana.

When she got to the police station she was not even allowed to make a call until when she was given her phone at 16:00 to call her mother, some officers in the police station were even concerned about the treatment that Mcinjana got said the 23-year-old.
