Make DD deputy or risk dividing the ANC, says Malema to Ramaphosa

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema said if he was president Cyril Ramaphosa for peace sake, he would appoint David Mabuza as his deputy.

Malema said if President Cyril Ramaphosa doesn’t appoint Deputy President David Mabuza he will be causing major problems for himself as historically presidents who alienate their deputies end up being unseated by them.

Malema said Mabuza’s reason for stepping back is to protest that he doesn’t have enough power.

“Ramaphosa must never think DD [David Mabuza] will not become a president. If he wants peace, we all know it started towards Polokwane, Zuma said I want to clear my name but behind the scenes he said to us they forced me out.”

The EFF leader said Ramaphosa shouldn’t take for granted that Mabuza will go away quietly.

David Mabuza, who had served as deputy since Mr Ramaphosa unseated Jacob Zuma as the president last year, due to the demands of a party integrity commission postponed his swearing-in as an MP on Wednesday hours before it was due to take place.

When it was announced that outgoing Deputy President Davd Mabuza would not be one of the contenders for Ramaphosa’s deputy three names immediately came up: Naledi Pandor, Nkosozana Dlamini-Zuma, Thuli Madonsela and Lindiwe Sisulu.

Ramaphosa will be announcing his cabinet on Saturday in his inauguration.
