This is the first time a president’s inauguration will not be held at the Union Buildings but at a Stadium.

Streets in and around the Stadium will remain closed on Saturday for President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration.

More than 200 buses are expected to descend to the city.

Police and metro police officers have been deployed to the event to prevent people with no accreditation from gaining access to the inauguration.

With about 400 sworn-in already, Ramaphosa has promised that his government will have zero tolerance for South Africa’s two major issues – corruption and fraud.

“Corruption got in the way, patronage got into the way and not focusing on the needs of our people got into the way,” said Ramaphosa.
