The ANC’s secretary general Ace Magashule announced chairs for different parliamentary committees and Zwane’s name made it to the list.

Zwane, who was fired as minister of minerals by President Cyril Ramaphosa is a controversial figure, having labelled as a strong figure in the state capture project.

However, it is seems the former minister is back in the limelight as he will chair the portfolio that will oversee the transport ministry.

Zwane was not the only controversial figure who has earned the chairpersonship in the committees.

Former Energy minister Tina Joemat-Petterson will chair the police committee, while former North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo will chair tourism committee.

Former Communications minister Faith Muthambi is another controversial figure who also got the nod.

Muthambi will chair the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs portfolio.

The most welcoming appointment is that of former #FeesMustFall leader Nomphendulo Mkhatshwa.

Mkhatshwa has been named as the whip for Higher Education, Science and Technology committee.
