President Cyril Ramaphosa met with the Eskom board in Cape Town discussing the parastatal’s current challenges.
Ramaphosa reiterated that the power utility’s challenges directly affect the development and growth of the country.
Tito Mboweni, Pravin Gordhan and Gwede Mantashe also sat in on the meeting.
Eskom’s board presented a report on the implementation of the nine-point plan focusing on among other things, uninterrupted power supply, cost-cutting and increasing revenue.
More measure will be announced to support Eskom, said Ramaphosa’s office.
“It is expected that the President will announce further measures to support Eskom’s efforts at recovery and financial and operational sustainability,” the presidency said in a statement.
The presidency did not say when the measures will be announced nor implements, however, it is expected that Ramaphosa will deliver his State on the Nation Address this Thursday.
