Renard resigns as Morocco coach!

Morocco head coach Herve Renard has become the latest high profile coach to resign from his post following a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The Atlas Lions, who were touted as among the favourites to win the title, were surprisingly booted out of the competition by minnows Benin in the knockout stages, losing 4-1 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1.

According to Morocco World News website, Moroccan sports channel Arryaddia TV announced the “imminent” resignation of the French coach.

“Imminent resignation of Herve Renard from his post,” Arriyadia posted on its Twitter account, as translated from French.

Renard is the only coach to have won the AFCON with two different teams. He did it with Zambia in 2012 and Cote D’Ivoire in 2015.
