Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane says her office is under no influence of politics from any party, while it operates in a space political space.
The EFF were defending and applauded Mkhwebane for her discoveries, while the ANC put her under immense scrutiny.
Mkhwebane spent most of her time slamming critics where she planned to deliver her offices’ budget and performance plans.
She said her office cannot please everyone and but tried to do its work without fear or favour.
“We’ve taken a decision they do not like – we are incompetent, we are biased, involved in political factionalism or not fit for office,” she said.
ANC MP Richard Dyantyi wasn’t impressed with her coming out guns blazing against criticism of her office.
“This which you’ve just presented is a presentation by a Public Protector who’s very angry and aggrieved.”
The EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi sprang to Mkhwebane’s defence, saying her work was her was “admirable”, adding that she should not explain herself to anyone.
