Jiba, Mrwebi saga does not seem like it’s over yet

The saga involving advocates Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi does not seem like it is over yet.

According to a report by eNCA, the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services held a joint meeting at Parliament on Wednesday on the removal of the pair from the NPA.

This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa upheld a recommendation by the Mokgoro Inquiry that the two are not fit for office.

Jiba was deputy national director of Public Prosecutions and Mrwebi special director of Public Prosecutions.

The pair was suspended in October 2018.

While rules do not provide clear guidance on removal and fitness to hold positions, it’s for the committee to decide.
