The police have confirmed that they have arrested fourteen people following a violent protest that broke out in Letsopa Township near Ottosdal in the North West.
According to eNCA residents from the area had enough and reportedly went on a rampage, protesting for service delivery.
Police spokesperson Sam Tselanyane says the situation is under control.
“Since the violent protest erupted yesterday, we have arrested nine suspects who made a brief appearance today and were remanded in custody until their next appearance. Today we arrested five people. e are still trying to get the situation under control at the moment.”
They reportedly torched a municipal office, trucks and community library and the people arrested are facing public violence charges.
