CONFIRMED: Sundowns in ongoing talks with Chiefs for Billiat

Mamelodi Sundowns have officially confirmed that they are in ‘ongoing’ negotiations with Kaizer Chiefs over the sale of midfielder Khama Billiat.

Masandawana have long been in the race to lure the Zimbabwean international back to Sundowns after he won three league titles and the CAF Champions League crown with the club.

The Brazilians broke the silence opening up for the first time about their interest in Billiat.

“This is a sensitive matter, and we have mutual respect for Kaizer Chiefs – so I won’t be disclosing too much information. But what I can tell you is that we have been in ongoing discussions for some time now about Khama Billiat,” explained Yogesh Singh, who is Sundowns’ acting general manager.

When asked about the offer amount and how far the deal is, Singh held back saying nothing on that note.

“What I can say is that the transfer window ends on August 31 and obviously all over the world players are moving during this period and it is no different here. If there’s no movement beyond that, then it is what it is. And the respect between the two clubs will remain,” he said.

Billiat missed Chiefs’ two opening league matches, with head coach Ernst Middendorp confirming he was nursing an injury he sustained during the African Cup of Nations last month, but then could that be the real reason he is yet to be featured in any of Chiefs matches? We guess only time will tell!

  1. This a joke the very sundowns never wanted to increase the players salary until the last 6months of his contract where he signed a pre-contract with kaizer chiefs bcz Pitso’s reasons were that he doesnt wanna messup his dressing room so now Pitso wont u mess up ur dressing room when u buy back a player that was urs but this time for R25 000 000 wow smthing terrible is happening at that sundowns team they are abusing Patrice Motsepe’s money they buy players they have no plans for out of jealous for other teams then keep those players on the bench for the whole season then Pitso come tell a lie that this player does not fit at sundowns Nonsense why did u buy him in the first place

  2. Pitso has favourite players like Broockie,Bangaly it really breaks my heart to see my team run the way its being run they buy expensive players who contribute nothing to sundowns and go win 1 trophy in a season results not incomoatible with the personnel on the bench smthng that reflects failure on sundowns technical team my worry is that Pitso is allowed to do as he pleases? When was the last time Sundowns ever played players from the academy ? Oy when Natasha Tsichlas ws still at the helm Sundowns had players from academy like Isaac Shai,Themba Mnguni,Joel Masilela,Old John Mabizela but that was abandoned for foolishness i blame Patrice Motsepe bcz now your money is not serving the right purpose of developing the south african football Sundowns has players like Mkhulise that Pitso sacrifices for celebrity players who are very expensive but deliver nothing for the team

  3. Its not good that Pitso has favourite players like Broockie,Bangaly it really breaks my heart to see my team run the way its being run they buy expensive players who contribute nothing to sundowns and go win 1 trophy in a season results not incomoatible with the personnel on the bench smthng that reflects failure on sundowns technical team my worry is that Pitso is allowed to do as he pleases? 4. Sundowns hv few playerz who earn around R800 000 a month as we speak so surely Billiat will earn around R1 000 000 or even more how many young ,poor and good south african players from the dusty streets of the township who wld appreciate even R50 000 000 a month jst so that their talent wld be exposed its amazing how we black people easily and quickly forget that somebody somewhere gave us a break eg Think of how Jomo Sono gave a young from the dusty streets of kagiso in Pitso Mosimane a break the same guy is blatantly and deliberately refusing to do the same to other kids from the same dusty streets of the township he keeps on using players that are above 30yrs sm are 34 yrs old yet sundowns has young players from the academy ,we sundowns supporters wld be happy to see our talent from development being uitilised this is bad we are not interested in only winning but we sustainability that will also help our National teams

  5. Sundowns has allowed Pitso Mosimane to be big headed only bcz he won 6 trophies in 6 yrs as if that thing on its own is a huge achievement Pirates won 6 trophies in 2 yrs time under Ruud Krol this thing by SA media of praising mediocrity must come to an end now you hear things like Pitso has not extended his contract at sundowns its fine Patrice give Benni Mcarthy that position snd see a different sundowns playing an attacking football not this sundowns of amakhehla did you watch how Cape Town city is playing a very attractive football while you busy allowing Pitso to destroy what could hv bn the most scary team to play against in SA ,even Bloemfontein celtics is playing an attacking football with the challenges faced with off the field but the boys are giving their all u cn see hunger not the millionaire players of sundowns where u cn see even from the body language that there is no hunger anymore PATRICE MOTSEPE plz plz give BENNI McARTHY that position of a head coach and see a different sundowns Oitso has reached his sellby date

  6. I seriously blame Pitso and sundowns management for really messing up the team’s proggression structure from academy to the senior team look i wld not mind if this money was spent on poor players from Mamelodi,Mabophane, garankuwa,Soshanguve etc bcz that wld be uplifting a lot families from poverty but when buy a player Maltjila,Ngele,Bangaly keep them unregistered for the whole season but all you do is to pump in money into their pockets when you make it very impossible for a boy from PTA to play for sundowns but its easier for an outsider to play for sundowns isnt that unfair ? When for kaizer chiefs during its hey days it was dominated mostly by soweto boys (Doctor Khimalo,Thabo Mooki,Frank Makua,Baloi (alex) ) in the starting lineup that made soccer a darling sport in SA bcz boys from the township could relate to those players bcz they were from the hood hence after that SA football went on to hv Jabu Pules,Steve Lekoleas,Gift Leremis,Scara Ngobeses of this world

  7. Yes i agree with u dave sundowns is jst showcasing that they cn do everything they want while they don’t realise that they are destroying someone’s career n promoting poverty to the young stars that r not given a chance 2 showcase their talent
