Process of finding permanent COO to kick off this week – SABC

In the midst of implementing its turnaround strategy and meeting certain pre-conditions set by Treasury in order to secure a bailout, the South African Broadcasting Corporation will now urgently begin the process of finding a suitable candidate to permanently hold the chief operating officer (COO) position following the resignation of acting COO Dr Craig van Rooyen on Monday.

Rooyen was appointed as acting COO just four months ago after being at the helm of the public broadcaster’s technology operations team.

“The board will be interviewing potential candidates for the COO role this week, and we will soon be advertising for a new group executive of technology,” said Vuyo Mthembu, SABC spokesperson.

“Dr Van Rooyen played a meaningful role in developing the SABC’s digital migration and helping it to become a multi-platform in the broadcasting environment,” Mthembu added.
