EFF maintains Ramaphosa has ‘blood on his hands’ over the Marikana massacre

In commemorating the seventh anniversary of the Marikana massacre, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it will continue the fight to ensure mineworkers in the country get a decent living wage.

The country commemorates the seventh anniversary of the Marikana massacre, where 34 mineworkers were gunned down by the police in striking for salary increment at Lonmin mine.

In what was a long strike in the mining sector since the dawn of democracy, Lonmin mineworkers were demanding an R12.500 monthly salary.

” The EFF vows that we shall fight until the end to ensure that the conditions of all mineworkers change in the extractive industries,” a statement stated.

The Red Berets maintained their position that President Cyril Ramaphosa should be blamed for the Marikana massacre.

” Cyril Ramaphosa chose to characterise mineworkers as criminals upon whom the police must take concomitant, is now head of state.

” He sits at the Union Building with blood on his hands.”

Marikana massacre has been marked as one of the worst ever moment of the country’s 25 years of democracy.
