Shortly after joining Inter Milan in Italy, striker Romelu Lukaku has gone on an attack against former club Manchester United, claiming the club constantly made him a scapegoat.

The Belgium international made a switch to Italy from the Red Devils for a fee of £73 million during the current transfer window, after falling down the pecking order in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Lukaku netted just 12 goals last season, as he found himself behind Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford as United’s preferred attack.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with LightHarted Podcast, according to Daily Mail, he insisted that the club did little to protect himself, Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba from unfair criticism.

“They have to find somebody. It is Pogba, it is me or it is Alexis. It’s the three of us all the time. For me, I just see it in many ways,”he told the podcast.

“A lot of people don’t think I should be part of that system. That’s my feeling from the conversations that I have, I just know.”

“For me, the thing that makes me laugh a lot is how the hell is s*** going bad with my team, but when I’m with my national team it’s good? I’m happy.

“Then something is wrong, is it me? I didn’t play the last three weeks of the season and I had another three weeks before I went to the national team. But I was there and rolling. Nobody complains, ” he added.

The 26-year-old further added that despite the dip in his form during the last campaign, he insists he wasn’t the only one.

“I put my hand up, I don’t think I was the only playing bad – a lot of people were,” he said.

“They have to find a culprit. If they want to put the blame on me, f*** it. I know what I’ve been through and this is just soccer.

Despite the scathing attack, the former Chelsea and Everton frontman still threw weight behind his former side, and believes there’s plenty of talent at the club to achieve great things.

“The team has so much potential to do great stuff. A lot of talent, but it’s not only talent, it’s about building a team.

Lukaku will be hoping to get his new journey underway on a high note when Inter host Lecce in their opening league match of the new campaign on Monday, August 26.
